WWE Star Sends Message To Top Champion After Becoming Number One Contender

A WWE star has sent a message to NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes after earning the right to challenge HIM at NXT No Mercy on October 1.

Since falling to Hayes at NXT’s last Premium Live Event, The Great American Bash on July 30, Ilja Dragunov has been on a roll, working his way back up to a number one contenders match for the NXT Championship on this weeks episode (September 12).

Facing off against former NXT North American Champion Wes Lee, Dragunov would ultimately prevail and ensure that he gets another shot at Melo in just over two weeks time.

Speaking in a WWE exclusive interview following his major win, Dragunov had a message for the champion, ensuring that he would not be denied his destiny.

Dragunov said:

“Wes Lee brought the fight, he brought it, and I really didn’t think he was gonna get up anymore after the fall he took on this table.

“But in the end, even if he brought a fight he lost. And you know why? If you stand in the way of the destiny of a man, you will go down.

“So he went down. And the next step in my journey is my destiny.

“Carmelo Hayes, you have confidence, and its funny you talked about No Mercy, because I won’t have any mercy on you.

“I will get up and blow my fire and burn down your entire dynasty, take your NXT Title because when the mat dragon is spreading his wings, you brother get lost.”

While Dragunov booked his spot in the main event of No Mercy the future looks incredibly uncertain for his defeated challenger Wes Lee.

Following his loss to Dragunov, Lee was spotted cleaning out his locker and later told WWE cameras that he was ‘done’ potentially suggesting a move to the main roster could be in his future.
