Update On Future Of John Cena DC Peacemaker Series DC Studios

An update has emerged on the DC Peacemaker series starring John Cena, amid uncertainty about future DC Universe projects.

John Cena notably starred as the titular character of season one of Peacemaker in 2022, a spin-off to the 2021 The Suicide Squad movie.

While James Gunn’s series received a lot of praise upon its initial release, a lot of the fanfare surrounded the former WWE Champion, with many arguing that Cena’s performance as Peacemaker was the best of his Hollywood career so far.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran both becoming co-Chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios in 2022, the duo have effectively rebooted the DC Extended Universe, leading to uncertainty about a number of future projects.

Speaking on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker will return for a second season.

Noting that season two won’t be out for a while, Gunn said:

“Peacemaker’s coming back right after ‘Superman.’ That’s my next thing, go straight from Superman to Peacemaker.

“‘Waller’ is first, and ‘Waller’ is a lot of the same people from ‘Peacemaker.’”

Gunn is currently working on his Superman Legacy movie, which will be part of the DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Superman Legacy is slated for a July 11, 2025 release.

John Cena last wrestled at WrestleMania 39, unsuccessfully challenging for Austin Theory’s WWE US Championship.

Cena recently shared his honest thoughts on Theory, revealing a criticism he highlighted directly with the rising star.

An update has emerged on Seth Rollins’ Captain America Brave New World movie, with Marvel Studios moving the film’s release date.
