John Cena Shares Honest Thoughts On LA Knight WWE

WWE legend John Cena has bestowed some particularly high praise on a popular rising star in the company, highlighting him for showing persistence throughout his career.

Speaking to WWE’s Cathy Kelly following his return to TV on the September 1 edition of SmackDown, John Cena discussed the Mega Star and his hard-fought journey to where he’s at now, as undoubtedly one of the most popular stars in the company.

Cena said:

“(I have) a tremendous amount of respect for LA Knight because his trajectory is that of persistence.

“You want to talk about somebody never giving up? I have it on a shirt and I try to live it every day.

“He walks that talk and he does it with his own style and he’s not afraid to be who he is in here (in his heart).

“And speaking from someone who started as the Doctor of Thuganomics, I have a lot of respect for that.”

Knight’s ascent to WWE mega-stardom has been far from easy, only arriving in the company at 38 through the NXT brand, before later being repackaged as the spokesperson of the Maximum Male Models on WWE’s main roster.

Thankfully for Knight he was eventually able to shake the ill-advised gimmick and portray a character much closer to himself.

Knight’s organic rise has seen him pick up some major momentum in recent months, winning the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam and now set for his second ever singles match at a WWE Premium Live Event against The Miz at Payback (September 2).

As for Cena, the 16-time world champion is set to take up the role as guest host in Pittsburgh for Payback, a role which Cena himself admitted he isn’t sure really entails.
