WWE Star Admits He Doesn’t Understand His Payback 2023 Role

WWE Star Admits He Doesn’t Understand His Payback 2023 Role WWE

16-time world champion John Cena has discussed his role as guest host at the upcoming WWE Payback premium live event on September 2.

On this Friday’s (September 1) edition of SmackDown, Cena confirmed that he will indeed be hosting Payback.

While the fans in attendance in Pittsburgh will likely be happy to see the Hollywood star, many have questioned what exactly Cena’s role will entail.

In an exclusive WWE backstage interview with Cathy Kelly following his SmackDown return, Cena admitted that he doesn’t exactly know what his role as ‘host’ means.

Noting that he can always seek advice from a familiar face, Cena said:

“I’ve never quite hosted. I just found that out right before I went down there and I want to make sure everyone knows I’ll be at the premium live event Payback as the host, and I don’t even know what that means.

“I have a lot of mutual respect for The Miz, he’s a man that wears many hats, maybe I can engage in a conversation with him and get some suggestions, he’s done the job quite well.”

While Cena isn’t totally sure what’s in store for him at Payback, it will be a nice appetizer for what is set to be the beginning of the longest run Cena has had in WWE in over four years.

While it’s unclear what WWE has in store for Cena over the next two months, a recent report has indicated that the company could be considering a dream match for Cena against another top star, click here to find out more.
