How Much Money John Cena Was Making On First WWE Contract WWE

John Cena has revealed how much money he made with his first WWE contract, and how his parents reacted when he signed with the company.

With Cena previously acting as the face of WWE, and recently breaking into Hollywood, it doesn’t appear that the 16-time World Champion will be strapped for cash anytime soon.

Speaking with Kevin Hart on Hart To Heart, Cena revealed that when he signed with WWE in 2000, he was offered a contract of $12,000 a year.

Noting that his rent was $1,000 per month at the time, he said:

“My first contract with WWE was $12,000 a year. I quit my job the day I was signed. I think my rent was $1,000 a month. So all my money is now rent.

“When I told my mom, she’s like, ‘I hope you’re okay.’ My dad, I could have told him any other position and he would have been like, ‘Yeah, whatever,’ but I told him I got a job with WWE.

“‘Oh, my son. This is unreal. It’s going to great. I can’t believe it.’ Still, to this day, he’s extremely proud.”

Cena recently made a surprise return at Money in the Bank 2023 to create buzz about a potential WrestleMania event in London.

Following this, Cena dropped Grayson Waller with an Attitude Adjustment.

The Champ was recently spotted speaking with a top WWE star backstage, leading to an AEW name stating that they need to beat up Cena now.
