John Cena Names Current WWE Star The ‘Greatest Of All Time’ WWE

Despite WWE officially referring to him as the ‘greatest of all time’ John Cena has now revealed who he believes deserves that honor instead.

Speaking to the media ahead of WWE Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad, India (September 8), the 16-time world champion was asked by Sportskeeda if he felt Roman Reigns was his successor, to which Cena replied:

“In my perspective I think Roman Reigns is the greatest of all time.”

Cena also said:

“Thank you all for being here en masse. It really means a lot to WWE, those of you who watch WWE programming, I mentioned on TV last week how important being here is to me.

“It’s the first time I’ve had to come and wrestle a match in my 20-year career in WWE. I came on a goodwill tour back in 2006 and I was overwhelmed with the passion of the fan base here in India. So it’s a pleasure to be back and truly a monumental moment for me to be able to perform for the WWE Universe here in India tonight.”

Despite Cena publicly grilling Reigns in an infamous promo in the lead-up to their one on one match at No Mercy in September 2017, Cena has been very positive about Reigns’ efforts since adopting the Tribal Chief persona.

Earlier this year Cena labelled Reigns the GOAT once again in an appearance on Busted Open Radio, praising what he had done in his record-breaking run as Universal Champion.

With Cena now confirmed to be back on WWE TV through September and October one would expect the former face of WWE to potentially run into the current Head of the Table, however, it’s currently unclear as to when we will see Reigns back on SmackDown.

Cena is set for his first WWE match since losing to Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 at Superstar Spectacle, teaming with  current World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins to take on Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of Imperium.

Elsewhere on the show a former opponent of Cena’s may be set to make a return to the company for the first time in years after being spotted with a current Raw star – for more information click here.
