An update has emerged on the current WWE status of John Cena following his surprise appearance at Money in the Bank 2023.
While Money in the Bank had its fair share of surprises such as Drew McIntyre’s return and Shayna Baszler attacking Ronda Rousey, perhaps the one that came most out of left field was John Cena showing up at the O2 Arena in London.
Yet, as much as the live crowd appreciated Cena, fans will no doubt be wondering whether the appearance will lead to something more, with there being some speculation that the 16-time World Champion is returning to set up something for SummerSlam.
Well we may now have our answer as according to Fightful Select (subscription required) Cena’s appearance was indeed a ‘special one off’ seemingly crushing hopes of another run in the immediate future.
Cena’s mission statement in his promo to the London faithful seemed to be to motivate WWE to host a future WrestleMania event in England’s capital, a suggestion which was very well received on the night by the live crowd.
Cena was interrupted by new Smackdown star Grayson Waller who argued with Cena’s pitch and countered with his own for WrestleMania to come to his native Australia.
After a back and forth Waller attacked Cena only to be put down with an Attitude Adjustment shortly thereafter.
