John Laurinaitis Dropped As Defendant In Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon & WWE WWE

John Laurinaitis has been dropped as a defendant in the sexual abuse lawsuit from former WWE employee Janel Grant against WWE and Vince McMahon.

Originally filed in January 2024, the suit listed WWE, McMahon and Laurinaitis as defendants with numerous claims of sexual abuse and trafficking.

Today, May 28, 2025, the Grant side has filed to voluntarily dismiss claims against Laurinaitis with prejudice, and to remove him as a defendant:

“Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(1)(A)(i), Plaintiff Janel Grant hereby stipulates with Defendant John Laurinaitis that the above-entitled action is voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice, against Defendant John Laurinaitis. For the sake of clarity, Plaintiff is not dismissing any claims against any defendant other than Mr. Laurinaitis. Each party shall bear its own costs.”

Grant’s representatives provided the following statement to POST Wrestling:

“John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. His agreement to a confidential settlement is a pivotal next step toward holding McMahon and WWE accountable and bringing justice to Ms. Grant after years of sexual abuse and trafficking. Mr. Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life. We cannot provide any additional details at this time.”‘

POST Wrestling reports:

The defendants are expected to file motions to move the case out of public court and into private arbitration by June 13. Grant will be allowed to request discovery related to the sides’ litigation over whether the arbitration clause that was part of the $3 million nondisclosure agreement will be enforced.
