I’m writing this just after finishing the match, and I don’t think I’m going to recover for a very, very long time. Johnny Gargano won an absolutely sublime encounter against Adam Cole to finally win the NXT Championship.
Cole picked up the first of three falls with a Last Shot, before Gargano levelled it via submission with a Garga-No Escape.
What followed was some of the best few minutes of wrestling in my memory, and ultimately Gargano overcoming the odds and making Cole tap a second time.
The NXT Championship was vacated by Tommaso Ciampa last month after it was revealed that he required neck surgery that would rule him out of TakeOver: New York and likely many months beyond.
Ciampa would have defended the title against Gargano had he been fit, and did come onto the stage to congratulate his former DIY tag partner after his win.

The win makes Gargano the 15th NXT Champion, and the first NXT Triple Crown Champion having won the NXT, North American, and NXT Tag Titles.
