Kane Weighs In On If The Undertaker Is Really Retired

There are few in WWE with closer ties to The Undertaker than Kane. Their history together dates back over 23 years and now, it seems both of them may be officially retired. The questions remain regarding whether The Undertaker’s retirement will hold up.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports, Kane gave his thoughts on if his kayfabe brother will remain retired. In short, he said to never say never but also mentioned that it is hard to get out of the WWE system. Here is the quote:

“Whether you can actually say this is gonna be it, it … I don’t know. WWE is one of those deals where it’s a little bit like the mafia, in that you never get to quite leave. I’m sure with someone whose been as important as The Undertaker, that he will be around in some form or fashion for quite some time.

Hotel California. You can check out, but you can never leave. That’s kind of the way it goes. It’s always the one more that gets you, right? Just one more. Then there’s always just one more after the just one more it seems like.

“You never say never in WWE, but, at the same point in time, I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I’m comfortable not being in the wrestling ring. It’s hard work. I’ve also gotten to the age where a lot of times I’m like, ‘Man, that looks like it hurts!’ I used to be, ‘Man, I wish I could be out there doing that!’ Now I’m kinda like, ‘Oooh golly. Those guys are a lot tougher than I am now.’ Nevertheless, if the opportunity arises … well, you know, we’ll see.”

The Brothers of Destruction had their final tag team match at Crown Jewel in 2018 against DX. The match was panned by fans and critics alike.

If The Undertaker does stay retired then his final match will have been against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36.
