Kenny Omega Compares Upcoming AAA Crowd To Last Chicago Appearance

In a revealing interview with Sports Illustrated, Kenny Omega looked ahead to a big upcoming match in Mexico.

While Omega may first have the reunion of The Golden Elite coming up on the next edition of AEW Dynamite (July 19), he first will have to survive Tijuana, Mexico.

Set to appear against El Hijo Del Vikingo at AAA TripleMania on Saturday, July 15th in Tijuana, Mexico, Omega compared facing the Tijuana crowd to his last appearance in Chicago.

Appearing in front of fans along with the Young Bucks in Chicago for the first time since the events of AEW All Out (and in the absence of notable hometown favorite, CM Punk) Kenny says that he isn’t able to plan out in advance what the crowd may or may not do.

Kenny Omega said:

“The fans will dictate how they want me to react,”

“It’s similar to the last time I was in Chicago. I’m not planning that out. It doesn’t work that way, not for me, anyway. If the fans are hyper-into Vikingo, and I’m the scourge of the seas, so be it. Then I’m going to lean into that even more. I’ll make you love him even more, hate me even more, and that’s something I love doing.”

The article also noted that Kenny Omega maintains a spotless record in AAA, having defeated Rey Fénix, Dragon Lee, Laredo Kid and Andrade El Idolo in his four bouts in the promotion thus far.

Facing off against El Hijo Del Vikingo tihs time, Omega said:

“I’m going to Vikingo’s home turf, I’ll refamiliarize myself with that six-sided ring, and I’m going to give him another taste of what he received on Dynamite,”

“This is another chance to put myself on the map, and take someone else with me.”
