An update on a potential match between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada in AEW following Omega’s return from injury.
When NJPW legend Kazuchika Okada signed with All Elite Wrestling last year, the list of potential dream matches for him in the company was seemingly endless.
However, at the top of that list for many fans was one more match against Kenny Omega, with the pair having four iconic matches against each other during their time in NJPW.
The match has yet to take place however, as Kenny Omega missed over a year of in-ring action after being diagnosed with diverticulitis in December 2023, but he and Okada have teased a match during that time.
Omega returned to AEW television at Worlds End last year, where he presented Okada the Continental Championship after his victory in the Continental Classic, just a week before Omega’s in ring return at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5 this year.
As All In Texas, AEW’s biggest event of the year, draws closer, many have speculated that the clash between the two men could be set for the show in Arlington, with both Okada’s Continental Championship and Omega’s International Championship on the line.
On tonight’s AEW Fyter Fest TV special, Kenny Omega made the next defence of the International title, defeating Claudio Castagnoli, Mascara Dorada and Brody King in a four-way.
After the match, the coin dropped and Kazuchika Okada came to the ring, with he and Omega thrusting their respective championships in each other’s faces before a brawl ensued, with Okada escaping the ring after Omega attempted to hit him with the One Winged Angel.
The segment was setting up the upcoming clash between the two men, which does indeed seem to be building towards All In Texas.
