KENTA has thrown some shade at a top AEW star following NJPW Battle In The Valley.
At the event, KENTA defeated Fred Rosser to become the third NJPW Strong Openweight Champion.
To win the bout, the Bullet Club member used his signature Go 2 Sleep finisher, which is also the finishing move of top AEW star CM Punk.
It was reported that Punk was in attendance for the event, sitting in the crowd alongside Gisele Shaw, Lars Frederiksen, Scott D’Amore, and others.
Taking to Twitter today, the new NJPW Strong Openweight Champion posted a bit of shade towards Punk. He tweeted:
I heard that my biggest fan in the world came to arena last night. I hope he enjoyed REAL Go2Sleep
KENTA and CM Punk have a long standing rivalry over Punk using the Go 2 Sleep as his finisher. The NJPW star has called him out on multiple occasions.
Punk hasn’t wrestled for AEW since All Out 2022 when he suffered a torn bicep in his AEW World Title victory over Jon Moxley. He was then suspended following a backstage brawl with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks following his comments at the post show press conference.
An update has now emerged on rumors that Punk is in talks with WWE, which you can read about right here.
