Another WWE star is set to miss the Royal Rumble due to injury, this time fan favorite King Woods!
On a live stream on G4 (Attack of The Show) on January 13, Woods revealed that he has suffered an injury that is likely to see him miss the Royal Rumble.
The current King of the Ring shared that delivering a DDT, he injured the plantaris muscle of his calf, an injury he expects to sideline him for about 4-6 weeks.
“So I was jumping in the ring to do a DDT, I spring off the bottom rope and then grab the guy and then run his head into the ground, hopefully shattering all the bones in his body so I can pin him! And win the match and make more money. So I did that part still, but in the process… just jumping off the ropes so nothing like — not a shark attack, not a steel chair hit, not a machine gun, not a machete, I just jumped.
“I still had some stuff to do but in those situations, you gotta figure out like, ‘Am I hurt to the point where I can no longer go forward? Am I hurt to the point I could mess up and possibly negatively affect someone else’s health?’ You know, you gotta keep everybody safe in there and I was, ‘Okay, this sucks. I can’t do this or that but hmm, I can do this and this’ and we finished everything and it’s all cool so like four-to-six weeks and I’ll be good.”
Having last wrestled on January 7, there is cause for pause as to how King Woods will participate in the premium live event currently scheduled for Saturday, January 29 but currently, Big E is the only member of New Day formally declared as an entrant in the Royal Rumble.
