WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has explained why he turned down WWE’s previous offer to manage a now-former WWE star back in 2020.
Since Angle’s retirement match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, the former WWE Champion has only made sporadic on-screen appearances for the company.
Speaking on his Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle confirmed that WWE previously wanted him to manage Matt Riddle, but he declined WWE’s offer.
Believing that the deal WWE offered him wasn’t worth it, Angle said:
“The money was not good.
“They didn’t want to give me that much money and it was like, ‘Okay. I would love to manage Matt, but you gotta give me a little bit more money than that.'”
Angle notably served as the special guest referee for Matt Riddle’s Fight Pit match against Timothy Thatcher on NXT in May 2020.
Later that week, Kurt Angle announced Matt Riddle’s WWE main roster debut, revealing that the Original Bro would be joining the SmackDown roster.
Matt Riddle was released by WWE during the September 2023 round of talent cuts.
Riddle recently provided clarification on previous comments he made about a WWE star not wanting to do business in a major match, which you can read more about right here.
