Kyle Fletcher has addressed Aussie Open’s status with a NJPW faction following their AEW signing.
On the May 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy defeated Kyle Fletcher to retain the AEW International Championship. Following Fletcher’s loss, AEW President Tony Khan announced that Aussie Open had signed with All Elite Wrestling.
The duo had been working actively with New Japan Pro Wrestling as part of the Will Ospreay-led group, United Empire.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Kyle Fletcher was asked about Aussie Open’s status with United Empire following their signing. He said:
“We’re absolutely going to remain in the United Empire. Ospreay & all the boys have done so much for us, it really feels like a brotherhood. If anything it’s just the start of a worldwide expansion of the group”
Fletcher and Davis had been a formidable duo in the NJPW tag team division, holding both the IWGP World Tag Team Championships and NJPW STRONG Tag Team Championship simultaneously.
However, Aussie Open were forced to relinquish both set of titles after Mark Davis suffered an injury.
