Last Night’s NXT 2.0 Widely Praised For Highlighting Women’s Division WWE

Last night’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0 on the USA Network has been widely praised by fans for highlighting the brand’s women’s division.

Women’s wrestling was a hot topic yesterday after Becky Lynch fired shots at AEW’s portrayal of its women’s roster.

Social media was full of praise about the number of women featured during last night’s April 26 NXT 2.0 show. The segments on the show that featured women were:

  • Nikkita Lyons vs. Lash Legend opened the show
  • Natalya & Cora Jade appeared and brawled post-match to set up Natalya & Legend vs. Lyons & Jade for next week
  • Ivy Nile appeared in backstage segment with the rest of Diamond Mine
  • Roxanne Perez, Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta in a locker room segment with Toxic Attraction to set up Perez vs. Mandy Rose – There were also several other unidentified women in the background during this segment, who are members of the roster who have yet to debut
  • Fallon Henley in a backstage segment with allies Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen; Sofia Cromwell walked past and Jensen stared at her in awe, which became significant later
  • The first ever women’s NXT breakout tournament was announced
  • A vignette aired announcing Arianna Grace (Bianca Carelli, Santino Marella’s daughter) for the breakout tournament
  • Tiffany Stratton appeared in a backstage interview to set up a new mega-heel couple with Grayson Waller
  • Kayden Carter & Katana Chance (Kacy Catanzaro) vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon
  • Brooks Jensen was attacked by a mystery attacker backstage – it later emerged he was lured in by Sofia Cromwell to be attacked by Von Wagner
  • A vignette aired for Kay Lee Ray announcing and explaining her name change to Alba Fyre
  • Fallon Henley & Josh Briggs vs. Elektra Lopez, Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde of Legado Del Fantasma
  • A backstage interview with Natalya & Lash Legend – Legend announced she’ll be in the breakout tournament
  • A vignette aired announcing Kiana James for the breakout tournament
  • Elektra Lopez appeared in a backstage segment with Legado Del Fantasma
  • Mandy Rose w/ Toxic Attraction ringside vs. Roxanne Perez (Rok-C)
  • Wendy Choo appeared post-match to antagonise Toxic Attraction
  • A vignette aired announcing Sloane Jacobs for the breakout tournament

In total, there were 24 women featured throughout the show, and many of them appeared in several segments.

There was also a match taped for this Friday’s edition of NXT Level Up (which always features at least one women’s match), which was Arianna Grace taking on a returning Amari Miller, who is back after suffering a concussion at the start of March.

NXT 2.0 usually does a pretty good job of featuring plenty of women during the two hours each week, but last night it was certainly on another level, and it didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.
