Hirooki Goto def. Tomohiro Ishii
Hirooki Goto knocked off Tomohiro Ishii in a fantastic and smart match. Hirooki Goto stays alive while Ishii misses out on an opportunity to move closer to block leader Jon Moxley.
This match was worked incredibly safe. The majority of it was strikes with big moves sprinkled throughout. Goto avenged his loss from last year’s match and picked up a very important two points.
Tomohiro Ishii would have to be in the conversation for the MVP of the tournament thus far. He has had nothing but stellar matches so far, regardless of his opponent. This was no different and you should track it down if you have the time and if you don’t have the time, make the time.
That brings another day of G1 Climax live coverage to an end. The next event takes place on Saturday so keep it locked on WrestleTalk for all your live coverage needs.
Jay White def. TAICHI
Jay White managed to get another win as he defeated TAICHI with the Bladerunner. As could be expected in a match between these two, there was a ton of interference and low blows on both sides.
After interference from Gedo and Yoshinobu Kanemaru, White was finally able to keep TAICHI down with the Bladerunner. Jay White faces Jon Moxley on Sunday, if he wins he could easily become the favourite to win the B Block.
The main event is next. Tomohiro Ishii vs. Hirooki Goto.
Tetsuya Naito def. Juice Robinson
Another really good match. Tetsuya Naito picked up the win over Juice Robinson after hitting a second Destino. Naito’s tournament is still alive but he will likely need to win out if he wants to win the G1 Climax.
Juice and Naito had great chemistry, even when things went wrong it never felt like the match was anything but great. It likely would have been even better had it been higher on the card but for what it was this was pretty darn great.
Toru Yano def. Jon Moxley
Welp. Toru Yano continues to play spoiler as he handed Jon Moxley his first defeat, albeit by countout. Yano hit both Moxley and Shota Umino with low blows and taped their legs together, leading to a countout.
The crowd was greatly entertained by this match. Yano was trying to offer Moxley peace with money and his DVD. It was entertaining but you should really only watch it for historical purposes.
Jeff Cobb def. Shingo Takagi
Jeff Cobb managed to pick up his third win of the tournament, pinning Shingo Takagi with the Tour of the Islands. The two had a really good match as Cobb had to try to win as quick as possible due to his injured knee.
Takagi remains at four points and will face his stable leader Tetsuya Naito on Sunday. Good match, good way to open B Block action today.
Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay & YOSHI-HASHI def. EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI
YOSHI-HASHI submitted BUSHI with the Butterfly Lock. After the match, Kazuchika Okada shared the ring with SANADA as the two will wrestle on Saturday.
B Block action begins next with Jeff Cobb vs. Shingo Takagi.
Kota Ibushi, Tomoaki Honma & Toa Henare def. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Ren Narita & Shota Umino
Toa Henare got the win for his team with a Toa Bottom on Ren Narita. Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi will face off in a rematch of last year’s G1 Climax final on Day 13.
Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr. def. Lance Archer & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Zack Sabre Jr. pinned his Suzuki-Gun stablemate Yoshinobu Kanemaru with the European Clutch. Sabre will face Lance Archer on the next A Block event.
Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi def. KENTA, Clark Connors & Karl Fredericks
Chase Owens got the win for Bullet Club with a Package Piledriver on Karl Fredericks. Bad Luck Fale and KENTA will go toe-to-toe on Day 13.
