WWE star Lyra Valkyria has vowed that this weekend is “the one” as herself and Bayley prepare for their big trip to the UK this weekend, which culminates in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title opportunity.
After months of voicing their displeasure towards Raw General Manager Adam Pearce for overlooking them in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title picture, Lyra Valkyria and Bayley will get their shot at the gold this Monday on the June 22 episode of Raw in London, England.
Since winning the gold at WrestleMania 42, Paige and Brie Bella have knocked back many of WWE’s top teams including The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend), The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) and, most recently, Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid), albeit the latter was in a non-title match.
While Bayley and Valkyria were involved in the WWE Women’s Tag Title four-way at WrestleMania 42, where Paige and Bella won the gold, they had yet to receive their two-on-two title shot until this Monday’s Raw, and Lyra Valkyria is brimming with confidence ahead of the opportunity.
Taking to Twitter, Valkyria shared a message of unity regarding her tag team partner, and vowed that their match on Monday, as well as this whole weekend, is “the one.”
Along with three behind the scenes images of herself and Valkyria, the Irish star wrote:
Always got each others backs!
This is our weekend, this is the one
We’re coming to Cardiff, We’re coming to Birmingham
and then in London.. we are FINALLY Taking those Tag Team Titles!
As Valkyria mentioned, the stars of WWE are heading to the UK for three live event dates, as well as Monday’s Raw and Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown taping (June 23).
Saturday, June 20 will see WWE head to Cardiff, Wales, before heading to Birmingham, England the following night (June 21) and then, finally closing out their European Summer Tour in Sheffield, England on Wednesday, June 24.
As well as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, the men’s World Tag Team Titles will also be on the line on the June 21 episode of Raw, with the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) taking on The Vision (Bron Breakker & Austin Theory).
Is It The End Of The Road For Bayley & Lyra Valkyria If They Fail On Monday?
What first began as a somewhat thrown together alliance in the build to WrestleMania 41, has become one of WWE’s most consistently great women’s tag teams.
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria have amazing chemistry inside and outside the ring, and the tandem has particularly helped Valkyria come further out of her shell and connect with the audience.
However, as much good work as they’ve done together, a loss on Monday could potentially spell the beginning of the end for their future alongside each other.
While it didn’t lead anywhere, there was a slight hint of dissension a few weeks back when Valkyria got herself a Women’s Intercontinental Title shot against Sol Ruca, with Bayley wanting her teammate to focus on the Women’s Tag Team Titles instead.
Their work together for over a year has warranted at least one run with the Tag Team Titles, but if they fall short on Monday, we could see some frustration spill over, and eventually a full blown breakup of the duo.
