AEW President Tony Khan has announced that a special All Elite Wrestling (AEW) match will be broadcast worldwide on Bleacher Report for free next week.
The date for the highly anticipated Riho vs Thunder Rosa AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament semi-final has been revealed. This bout will take place on February 28, and will be accessible free of charge on Bleacher Report.
Tony Khan took to Twitter to confirm that the match will be shown on Bleacher Report, rather than their BR Live pay-per-view service, Khan reminded fans that this special will take place one week before AEW Revolution 2021.
Khan thanked Bleacher Report for teaming with AEW in a series of tweets:
“The #AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament USA semifinal bout featuring former @AEW Women’s World Champion Riho vs. former @nwa Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa streams on @BleacherReport on February 28th on a free Sunday Special, one week before Revolution ppv!
“This will be free worldwide for all fans on @BleacherReport, not @BRLive for this show, back on BRLive domestic/FITE a week later for Revolution. It’s huge to get exposure on Bleacher Report available to millions of fans worldwide + a reminder Revolution is Sunday 3/7, not on Sat.
“With @BleacherReport’s 9.4M Twitter + 14.8M Instagram followers, it’s a huge opportunity to introduce @AEW & our great wrestlers to new fans by streaming such a high stakes bout between 2 of the best as part of a free Sunday Special. Thank you @BleacherReport for teaming with us”
This partnership will give AEW a huge amount of exposure. With millions of sports fans following Bleacher Report, more people than ever before will be introduced to AEW’s women’s division.
Riho advanced to the semi-final after defeating Serena Deeb on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. Thunder Rosa had previously defeated Leyla Hirsch, leading to this highly anticipated encounter.
A clash between a former AEW Women’s Champion and a previous NWA women’s titleholder, this match-up has huge ramifications for the future of the AEW women’s division.
