MJF Sends Hilarious Tweet During Match At Forbidden Door AEW

On tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view (June 25), the main show kicked off with a major championship match for MJF.

In the opening bout of tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view card, the AEW World Champion MJF took on an NJPW legend.

In the first match of the main show, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman took on Hiroshi Tanahashi for the AEW World Championship.

Making his ring entrance in a robe emblazoned with the phrase, ‘New Japan is an Indie’ on the back of it, MJF made his feelings about having to participate in the match clear.

After a brief exchange, MJF started to walk away from the ring, being audibly heard saying ‘I don’t need this s**t,’ however when Tanahashi led the crowd in a ‘Coward!’ chant, MJF went back to the ring.

Also halfway through the match, a tweet was sent out from MJF’s Twitter account that he’d scheduled beforehand, saying that he’d scheduled it because he’d already have won by that point. Of course, he hadn’t and the match was still ongoing.

However, after a hard fought match, MJF shoved Tanahashi into referee Bryce Remsburg and while Remsburg was distracted, MJF utilized the Dynamite Diamond ring behind the referee’s back to subdue Tanahashi.

MJF went on to capture the pinfall victory and retain his AEW World Championship in the opening bout of the pay-per-view main show.

Elsewhere slated for tonight’s pay-per-view, huge matches between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada, and Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay as some of AEW’s biggest stars face off against NJPW’s best.

We’ll also see CM Punk in action against Satoshi Kojima in the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament, and Toni Storm puts her AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Willow Nightingale.
