Here’s the latest on the status of Trinity Fatu, aka Naomi, following Sasha Banks’ official WWE departure and NJPW debut.
Naomi and Banks haven’t appeared on WWE TV since walking out on the May 16 WWE Raw taping.
Banks officially became a free agent at the beginning of the year, before making an appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4 as Mercedes Mone.
Previous reports indicated that Naomi originally intended to return to WWE with Mercedes, but had to make a decision about her WWE future without The Boss.
With Naomi travelling to Japan to be with Mercedes for Wrestle Kingdom, some have speculated that the two could be reunited in a ring outside of WWE soon.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, talks between WWE and Naomi are ongoing, but no new deals had been signed as of the middle of the week.
At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Mercedes confronted IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI, dropping the titleholder before challenging her to a match.
Mercedes will challenge for KAIRI’s gold at the February 18 NJPW Battle In The Valley event.
The former WWE star has made a bold claim about the upcoming bout, which you can read about right here.
