Netflix’s GLOW Renewed For Third Season

Netflix’s GLOW Renewed For Third Season

After season two dropped in June to critical acclaim and season one was nominated for a host of awards, you’d be forgiven for thinking the GLOW team were contently counting their money.

Only eight weeks after the premier of season two the team tweeted the following, confirming a third season:

Season two gained a 98% fresh rating and 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans will certainly be excited, but they aren’t the only ones. Marc Maron and Betty Gilpin – who play Sam and Debbie respectively – have both tweeted their support of the announcement:

Although nothing has been confirmed, with each of the first two seasons running at 10 episodes, the same is expected of season three. The Netflix series has a long way to go before it reaches the 104 episodes of the ladies in the 1980s. No stars have yet confirmed their involvement, but all the main cast feature in the promo video for season three.

Netflix won’t release viewing figures for their shows, but it is known that GLOW doesn’t pull in the biggest audiences. What GLOW does have is a clutch of award nominations it has gathered in a relatively short space of time. GLOW gained 10 nominations at this years Emmy awards, the first in which Netflix was able to topple HBO. Industry sources have claimed that viewing figures may not matter much if it remains an award contender.
