A new report has revealed that former TNA President Scott D’Amore might be set to launch a new wrestling promotion.
In February 2024, Anthem Entertainment announced that they had let go TNA President Scott D’Amore and replaced him with Anthony Cicione. Many fans have wondered what D’Amore’s next move in wrestling would be after the shocking nature of his TNA departure.
On May 1, PWInsider reports that it looks like Scott D’Amore may be set to launch a new pro wrestling promotion.
In April 2024, a trademark was filed for Maple Leaf Wrestling with it being listed for the same corporate address as D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling promotion. The filing reads:
The trademark was for goods and services in the realms of “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring professional wrestlers and sports entertainers in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainmen for entertainment purposes.”
The report notes that attempts to contact D’Amore about the trademark filing proved to be unsuccessful.
Maple Leaf Wrestling was the terminology used to describe the promotion run in Toronto by the Tunney family in the 1970s and 80s as the promotion ran the Maple Leaf Gardens.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on the new promotion and Scott D’Amore’s status when they become available.
