A new WWE star made his in-ring debut during tonight’s May 16 episode of SmackDown on USA Network, and picked up the win.
Kicking off tonight’s show heading to the ring were Solo Sikoa, United States Champion Jacob Fatu, and JC Mateo, formerly known as Jeff Cobb.
As Sikoa and Fatu were arguing, LA Knight snuck up behind them and briefly attacked Mateo at ringside before running away.
Mateo had first appeared at WWE Backlash last weekend, helping Sikoa assist Fatu in retaining the United States Championship against Knight – although Fatu didn’t really appreciate the help.
Later on tonight’s SmackDown, Solo Sikoa won a Money in the Bank qualifier three-way against Jimmy Uso and Rey Fenix, after help from Fatu and Mateo.
Post-match, Knight showed up again, leading to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis coming out onto the stage and making an impromptu match for “right now” in the form of Knight vs Mateo in Mateo’s debut.
It was Mateo who scored the victory in his debut against Knight, using his Tour of the Islands spinning slam finisher.
