New Technology Being Used By WWE Revealed WWE

A WWE exec has teased a new strategy of ‘pushing the envelope’ after Raw moves to Netflix in 2025 in regards to use of technology.

Even with the Netflix deal not yet underway, the shift is still evident, as shown by some camera shots during WrestleMania 40.

The Verge wrote:

WWE also brought in a mirrorless camera — Sony’s A7S III in this case — for certain shots to capture a shallow depth of field for select entrances and in-ring introductions. It was different enough visually from the other cameras to be noticeable but not over the top.

Senior Vice President and Director of TV Marty Miller spoke to The Verge at Mania 40 about the various technology behind the presentation of the big night.

Speaking about the addition of AR elements into the television production, Miller said:

“AR is creating an addition; it’s a supplement to the environment that already exists from the viewer’s television or whatever platform they’re watching on — from their iPad or iPhone,”

“We try to create an immersive environment and complement whatever the physical environment is.”

“It’s just an amazing increase in technology that allows us to do bigger and better things; more 3D stuff versus 2D.”

WrestleMania 40 featured numerous big entrances, arguably none utilizing A/R more effectively than Becky Lynch.

Her entrance featured A/R imagery of the pages of Lynch’s New York Times Bestselling memoir, Not Your Average Average Girl.

Marty Miller also commented on the transition of WWE Raw and select premium live events to Netflix in the coming year, noting a new strategy post-move.

Miller said:

“When Netflix starts, we’ll definitely be pushing the envelope on every aspect of technology,”

“Not technology just because it’s new; we want technology that directly relates to the WWE and makes our product better.”

Tonight’s episode of WWE Raw will be presented commercial free for the first hour on USA Network, the final edition of Raw After Mania to be presented on cable.
