An update has emerged on AEW commentator Nigel McGuinness’ in-ring future, following his wrestling return earlier this year.
After not wrestling in over 13 years, McGuinness returned to the ring three times in 2024.
His first match back took place at All In London in August, when McGuinness was a surprise entrant in the Casino Gauntlet match.
On month later, he faced off against Bryan Danielson in singles action at Dynamite Grand Slam.
McGuinness made another surprise in-ring appearance at ROH Final Battle in December, answering Lee Moriarty’s ROH Pure Championship open challenge.
With McGuinness’ recent bouts, there has been some speculation about whether he’s going to wrestle more, or if he has now achieved everything he wanted to in between the ropes.
Per Fightful Select, when they asked about McGuinness’ in-ring status following ROH Final Battle, they were told that this wasn’t expected to be his final match.
McGuinness is expected to continue on commentary, with it noted that Fightful wasn’t told of any creative plans for McGuinness in the ring.
McGuinness had reportedly been in ring shape for All In 2023, but ultimately didn’t compete.
