NJPW star Tama Tonga has teased an AEW debut, stating that he’s currently a free-agent.
Tony Khan recently revealed that a free-agent will make their AEW debut on Dynamite, welcoming the talent to slam the forbidden door shut on previous promotions.
Tama Tonga has now said that he has been a free agent since the end of last month. Telling the AEW President that he loves burning bridges, Tama Tonga tweeted:
“I am a free agent since January 30, 2022 #misinformation
“Hey @TonyKhan wanna burn bridges? I love burning bridges. #F**kAForbidenDoor”
While the ‘misinformation’ hashtag has caused many to question whether or not Tama Tonga is telling the truth, it is worth noting that the former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion has recently wrestled in the US, working the late-January sets of IMPACT TV tapings.
Tama Tonga last wrestled for NJPW in December 2021 during a Best of the Super Juniors/World Tag League show. If he doesn’t return, Tonga will have ended a 12-year stint with the company, after joining NJPW in 2010.
