NJPW Power Struggle Card Revealed

Power Struggle is New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s next big event before their climactic event Wrestle Kingdom 13 in January. The show will happen on November 3rd and will feature championship matches including the first title defence from Chris Jericho.

Power Struggle will feature Jericho’s first IWGP Intercontinental Championship defence as he will face EVIL at the event. Jericho won the title from Tetsuya Naito at Dominion in June and it appeared that EVIL would be his first challenger when he ran in to save Naito from Jericho’s beatdown.

This was be confirmed when Jericho attacked EVIL at King of Pro Wrestling before EVIL was set to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr.

Taichi will also defend the NEVER Openweight Championship for the first time at Power Struggle when he faces Will Ospreay.

Ospreay pinned Taichi at King of Pro Wrestling to set up this match, which will be the first time a junior heavyweight will challenge for the title since Kyle O’Reilly challenged Katsuyori Shibata at King of Pro Wrestling in 2016.

Taichi won the title in September at Destruction in Beppu. He defeated Hirooki Goto in a match filled with outside interference, winning his first singles title in New Japan.

The full card for Power Struggle is as follows:

  • IWGP Intercontinental Championship match: Chris Jericho vs. EVIL

  • Tetsuya Naito vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

  • NEVER Openweight Championship match: Taichi vs. Will Ospreay

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi and David Finlay vs. The Golden Lovers

  • Kazuchika Okada and Beretta vs. Jay White and Bad Luck Fale

  • Finals of the Super Jr. Tag League 2018
