Following the conclusion of the G1 Climax, Kazuchika Okada talked to the media where he made the announcement that he and his manager Gedo would be ending their professional relationship.

Okada explained that the change is for professional reasons and there are no ill will between the two men. Okada has been going through numerous changes since losing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Kenny Omega at Dominion in June.
Okada has displayed a more care-free attitude with the pressures of carrying the company off his shoulders for the first time in two years. This change in attitude has been coupled with a change of attire, as Okada has hung up his trademarked ring-coat in favor of one of his t-shirts, and the addition of balloons to his ring entrance. These changes were on full display during the G1 Climax where Okada finished with 13 points, good for second place in the A Block.
Gedo has acted as Kazuchika Okada’s manager since his redebut at Wrestle Kingdom VI. Gedo has since served as Okada’s mouthpiece and corner-man adding another layer to Okada’s character. Now with Okada going solo, there is the chance to show a new story for Okada’s character as now he will be wrestling without a mentor and can become even more of his own performer without having to rely on anyone’s advice.
