Another New Japan Pro Wrestling star worked Wrestle Kingdom 18 without a contract, as their contract with the company has expired.
The NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 show took place today, which was notable for a number of reasons, including the debut of former WWE star Dolph Ziggler (Nic Nemeth).
The show opened up with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship on the line, with Bullet Club War Dogs members Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney losing their titles to Catch 22.
Following the show, one reason for the title change has now been reported amid an ongoing crazy free agency period in wrestling.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), Clark Connors worked Wrestle Kingdom without a contract.
Connors’ contract with the company expired while he and Moloney still reigned as the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
Fightful heard that NJPW and Connors have been in active negotiations for a new deal, but it is not known if they have been able to come to terms on a deal during this week.
Connors was a part of NJPW’s first LA Dojo class back in 2018, alongside Alex Coughlin, Gabe Kidd and current WWE NXT star Eddy Thorpe.
