There was a top NXT star at ringside for the opening match of tonight’s premium live event, WWE Payback, for a serious grudge match.
Tiffany Stratton is at ringside for the big steel cage match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus at tonight’s WWE Payback.
Featured on screen, the NXT Women’s Champion was shown taking in the action between the two big stars.
Recently during NXT, Stratton made a ‘mistake’ by noting Becky Lynch as a past NXT Women’s Champion, which she later recanted, noting Lynch hadn’t actually ever won the title.
Lynch fired back a tweet where she acknowledged she hadn’t… yet.
After that, Stratton also appeared at ringside on WWE Raw taking in the night’s events, specifically the falls count anywhere match between Lynch and Zoey Stark.
In the end, at Payback, it was Becky Lynch who picked up the win in the steel cage match while a post-match angle saw a breakup between Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark.
Later in a backstage segment, there was an actual face to face between Stratton and Lynch as Becky was approached during an interview segment.
With the NXT Women’s Champion being apologetic for having referred to Becky as a former NXT Women’s Champion, she just wanted to “apologize woman to woman,” for having made the mistake.
With Lynch telling Stratton she could “crawl back into the Mattel box” she came out of, the situation did not seem to be entirely diffused.
It certainly seems that Lynch vs Stratton will be the next example of an NXT star working with an established main roster star as the crossovers between the two are becoming more and more regular.
