A former WWE star has revealed original plans for the formation of the Wyatt Sicks before Bray Wyatt’s passing in August 2023.

On August 24, 2023, Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) tragically passed away at the age of 36, less than a year after he returned to WWE for his second run at Extreme Rules 2022.

Wyatt’s legacy continues to live on in WWE, and in 2024, the company paid tribute to ‘The Eater of Worlds’ with the debut of the Wyatt Sicks faction, consisting of Wyatt’s real-life brother Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy), former stablemate Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross and Joe Gacy.

With all five members of the Wyatt Sicks now free agents after being released by WWE in April, Joseph Sawyer (fka Joe Gacy) sat down with The FiveMarks to discuss the group and its origins.

Sawyer confirmed that there was an idea within WWE for the Wyatt Sicks faction before Bray Wyatt’s passing, with Gacy believing that Bray was originally planned to lead the group.

“I know there was always an idea for the Wyatt Sicks group, because I had heard rumblings about it before I was ever even approached about it… I think the idea was that obviously Bray was going to be the leader at the time, and then unfortunately he passed away.”

Bray Wyatt Wanted To Work With Joe Gacy in WWE NXT

According to Sawyer, WWE Director of Character Development Rob Fee got in touch with him shortly after Bray Wyatt’s passing to let him know how much Bray thought of him and his work, with the late WWE star even wanting to work with him during his time in NXT.

Admitting that hearing that after Bray’s passing “blew him away,” Sawyer revealed that this initial contact between he and Rob Fee led to him getting a heads up about WWE’s plans for the Wyatt Sicks group:

Sawyer said:

“It was a crazy moment where, there’s a guy named Rob Fee who works in the character development. It was shortly after he passed away he reached out to me and basically told me ‘Hey, Windham thought a lot of you. He really wanted to come down to NXT and work with you.’ And this was the first time I was hearing any of this, and it blew me away ‘cause I had no idea at the time he wanted to work with me at all.

“Selfishly I wish we got to do, even like a promo on NXT. Just to have a back-and-forth, something. It would have been an honor.

“It led to conversations with me and Rob and he basically told me ‘Hey, there’s an idea, so don’t get worried if you don’t do NXT TV as much.’ I guess he was trying to prep me in case NXT stopped using me, ‘cause if you get pulled off TV a little bit there’s always that fear of ‘Oh no, am I going to get fired?’

“So he had the prep, he prepped me a little bit and basically told me there’s this idea, there’s this group idea, blah blah blah.”
