A WWE star has revealed that they suffered a torn tricep injury during their match at Friday’s SmackDown taping.

Ahead of this week’s WWE SmackDown show, WWE taped two matches for next week’s episode of WWE Main Event, with Fraxiom facing off against the War Raiders, while Matt Cardona faced Kit Wilson.

Cardona would pick up the win over Kit Wilson in the match, but he has now revealed that he suffered an injury during the match.

Matt Cardona Reveals Torn Tricep Injury

Taking to social media, Cardona shared a photo of himself in the gym, with him revealing that he tore his tricep during his match on Friday.

He wrote:

I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.

We wish Cardona all the best and a full and complete recovery from his injury.

Cardona was in action on last week’s episode of SmackDown, where he lost to Gunther after Gunther had antagonised Cardona’s wife Chelsea Green.

Will Matt Cardona Become WWE Champion?

When Matt Cardona made his return to WWE back in January, he did so after an appearance in the John Cena Last Time Is Now Tournament back in November, where he appeared as Zack Ryder against LA Knight.

Cardona has gone on record as saying that he wants to follow in the footsteps of names like Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes, where he reinvented himself outside the company before returning to become World Champion.

As it stands, Cardona is currently a long way away from the World Championship, as he has largely been used in the same spot as he was prior to his departure from the company in 2020.

While Cardona going down with an injury sucks, the time away could be a good way for him to refresh himself, and potentially return as part of a hot angle to reheat him as he chases that World Title.

While you can never say never in wrestling, and stranger things have happened, Cardona is currently a long way away from that WWE Championship, and the company must put some more effort into his booking should they want to get him there.
