More details have emerged on a celebrity’s training, following the announcement of their in-ring debut at an upcoming WWE event.

As confirmed on the August 21 edition of SmackDown, Lil Yachty will wrestle his first match ever at next week’s Sunday Night’s Main Event special.

The musician will face off against WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin in a match with a five minute time limit. If Yachty survives the five minutes, Trick Williams will receive a shot at the US Championship.

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline has shared an update on Lil Yachty’s in-ring training. Alvarez reports that Yachty has been training for months with WWE star Ivy Nile, and her husband, fitness instructor Ari Levy.

Previous videos and comments from Trick Williams indicate that Yachty has also been training at the WWE Performance Center.

Lil Yachty aligned himself with Trick Williams shortly before WrestleMania 42, where his interference helped Williams to defeat Sami Zayn for the US Championship.

Williams held the gold for 104 days, ahead of dropping the title to Baron Corbin at SummerSlam on August 2.

Trick Williams previously stated that Lil Yachty fought for his WWE stint to be more than a “one week type thing”. Paul Heyman previously praised the musician for his commitment to WWE, calling him a credit to the concept of “crossover into our business”.

WWE shared the following preview for the match:

At Sunday Night’s Main Event, United States Champion Baron Corbin will go one-on-one with Lil Yachty.

If Yachty can last five minutes against the brutal titleholder, then Corbin will grant Trick Williams a United States Championship rematch on the same night.

Corbin made his shocking return to SmackDown in early July by disrupting Williams’ title defense against Carmelo Hayes to hit both Superstars with End of Days.

After smashing Yachty through a table at SummerSlam, Corbin captured the title by hitting Trick with the championship as the official’s back was turned.

Weeks later on SmackDown, Corbin successfully defended the gold against Hayes in a hard-fought matchup, only to have Yachty attack him with a Trick Stick, which allowed Williams to nail the titleholder with the Trick Shot.

Wanting to get a piece of Yachty, Corbin proposed the Sunday Night’s Main Event match with the special stipulation after another altercation that following week.

Sunday Night’s Main Event will take place on September 6 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
