Lil Yachty WWE Debut Match Announced

Lil Yachty’s WWE in-ring debut match has officially been announced for Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.

Since March, Lil Yachty has been accompanying Trick Williams to the ring, with Yachty even gifting Trick his own custom United States Championship title.

It has been reported that Yachty had been training for a potential in-ring appearance, and his official WWE in-ring debut has now been confirmed.

At SummerSlam, Baron Corbin would unseat Trick Williams to become the new United States Champion in his first match back with the company.

Corbin would then also retain the title over Trick the following week on SmackDown, as well as against Carmelo Hayes last week in Hayes’ hometown of Boston.

The match would then see Trick Williams and Lil Yachty get the jump on Corbin, with Yachty taking out Corbin with the ‘Trick Stick’.

Lil Yachty’s WWE Debut Match Announced

On tonight’s WWE SmackDown show, Trick and Yachty came to the ring together, with Trick calling out Corbin for another match for the title.

Corbin would tell Trick that he doesn’t deserve a title match after his two losses, but would say that he would give him one if he got to go through Yachty first.

It was then announced that Lil Yachty would make his in-ring debut at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, with Yachty facing Corbin in a match with a five minute time limit.

If Yachty survives the five minutes, Trick will get his shot at the United States Championship.

WWE Continues To Rely On Celebrities

WWE fans have become tired of the company’s over-reliance on celebrities, specifically in the TKO era, as it seems that the focus goes onto the outside names over the wrestlers on the roster.

Coming off back to back celebrity involvements in the main event of WrestleMania, Lil Yachty was seen as a breath of fresh air on SmackDown, as he was largely reduced to being a background player for Trick’s segments instead of the key focal point of the show like names like Pat McAfee and Travis Scott were before him.

However, WWE is now playing with fire with even Yachty, as him being chosen to compete at Sunday Night’s Main Event over most of the active roster will undoubtedly rub people the wrong way.
