The New Day have not been featured on WWE television in recent months, with both Kofi Kingston and Big E out of action with injuries.
Xavier Woods hasn’t appeared since the May 15 episode of Raw, where he was defeated by Dominik Mysterio.
Amid his absence, Woods appeared on WWE’s The Bump, where he said that it has been nice having time off ahead of his 20-year career anniversary next year.
He said:
“Honestly, it’s been a good little reset, you know? Next year will be 20 years in wrestling for me, so being able to take a couple of weeks and mentally reset, and then kind of reset your body as well — it’s good for the mind.”
There have been a number of new NXT call ups in recent months that the New Day have yet to face off against, with Woods believing there is a lot of new opportunities for the team.
He added:
“It’s cool seeing so many people from NXT finally come up to [the main roster] — people that we’ve wanted to wrestle with for so long.
“It’s really cool because I know that once we are back — Kofi and myself — there [are] so many new chess pieces on the board to mess with.”
Woods and Kingston held the NXT Tag Team Championship earlier this year, losing the titles to Gallus back at NXT Vengeance Day in February.
