Possible Reason Behind AEW Star’s Absence? AEW

A new report has revealed a possible reason behind an AEW star’s absence.

Earlier this year, Fightful Select reported that Serena Deeb had been sidelined and not brought up creatively, but still under contract with All Elite Wrestling.

At the time, it was also noted that the AEW star was not injured.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that Deeb has told people that she is dealing with a serious injury and is working to get cleared.

However, AEW sources have noted there was also a serious disagreement with management last year that led to Deeb being left off television.

The report notes that the former NWA Women’s Worlds Champion was very vocal about her use on AEW programming, especially the time that she was given for her matches.

The situation was said to be entering the area of disrespect, with Deeb accusing Tony Khan and AEW management of cutting the time of her matches without notifying her until she got to the ring.

The claim on AEW’s side was that they have a list of times and showed Serena that her time wasn’t actually cut based on what was budgeted beforehand.

The report also notes that it is typical for producers and coaches of wrestling companies to not relay times for matches until they are finalized. This is to prevent wrestlers from getting upset when inevitable cuts take place.

Sources close to Deeb said they haven’t heard this story directly from her, but members of the AEW locker room and others in the company have and said it led to some heat on her.

WrestleTalk will provide further updates on Serena Deeb’s status with AEW when they become available.
