The wrestling world was shocked last night by the news that Cesaro had quietly left WWE after letting his contract expire.
In the hours following the initial PWInsider report, we have learned Cesaro signed a one-year contract extension last year, and that he made the decision not to renew this time round, despite offers from WWE.
Fightful Select has now given further insight into why Cesaro may have made the call to leave the company.
The report states Cesaro had indicated “reasonable disappointment” at the way he had been booked, and certain matches and spots he had been left out of.
Despite him leaving, Fightful sources did indicate the door may still be open for a Cesaro return, and that until he makes a decision to go elsewhere, he could well return to WWE.
Of course there has already been speculation he could be headed to AEW, but as of writing, nothing has been reported. We will of course update you if any more news comes out.
While Cesaro wasn’t technically a release, he has left WWE, and you can see every star who has left or been released by WWE in 2022 right here.
