Former WWE star Mustafa Ali, who recently became a free agent after being released by the company, is said to be moving a lot of tickets on the indies.
A multitude of released WWE stars had their non-compete clauses come to an end a month ago, such as Dolph Ziggler who’s joined TNA, and Matt Riddle who’s worked for NJPW and MLW.
Another of those names is Mustafa Ali, who recently appeared via a vignette at NJPW Battle In The Valley to challenge Hiromu Takahashi to a match.
As well as popping up in NJPW, Ali has also worked, or is going to work, with a multitude of indie promotions, such as GCW, APC in France, C4, Warrior Wrestling and Dreamwave.
According to Fightful Select, indie promoters have pointed out that the movement they’ve seen on ticket sales after announcing Ali for shows is “the most they’ve seen for a WWE departure in years”.
Mustafa Ali recently posted some graphics for upcoming matches on Twitter with a “sold out” stamp over them.
They were a match for C4 against Vaughn Vertigo on January 19, a Dreamwave show on February 10 for which Ali is featured in the center of the poster, a Warrior Wrestling show on March 1 where he faces Trey Miguel, and GCW show on January 12 where he beat Gringo Loco.
