Report: ‘Frustration’ Over ROH Stars Not Used At TV Taping ROH

A backstage note has emerged on unused talent who were at the recent Ring of Honor TV tapings.

ROH TV returned on March 2, with the first episode since Tony Khan’s acquisition of the promotion in March 2022.

Matches that aired on this week’s episode were taped on February 26 at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, as were several matches for upcoming episodes.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several names were flown in for the taping, and not used.

Noting that there was some frustration from stars who weren’t utilized, Meltzer wrote:

A note we’ve heard around from a number of people regarding the ROH tapings. There were several people flown in for the show and not used.

A lot of the guys canceled their weekend bookings on indie shows and they did get paid more than they would have made on indie shows so that’s not an issue, but the frustration was of guys being brought in and not used.

One independent promoter told us that he lost four of his top guys and none of them got used on the ROH tapings.

The promoter said he wasn’t mad or anything and was happy for the guys to get national exposure and quite frankly they would be worth a little more if they were used on ROH television.

Dak Draper was one name we were told was backstage and not used

Clarification has emerged on a ROH star’s apparent name change, which you can read more about right here.
