Report: Status Of Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal Revealed WWE

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and the Women’s WrestleMania Battle Royal are always a bit of fun, even if winning the match means exactly nothing.

Don’t let the commentators fool you with the hype, the match really doesn’t do anything for the winner, but then that’s not really the point.

Usually, the matches take place on the WrestleMania pre-show, but last year the ATGMBR was on the SmackDown before WrestleMania, with Jey Uso winning on that occasion.

There hasn’t been a women’s match since 2019, and it looks like that streak may continue, as Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there has been very little talk of either match happening this year.

He wrote:

“There has been no talk of either a men’s or women’s Battle Royal for those on the roster not booked. There are not a lot of women on the roster who are ready to fill a Battle Royal, but there are more than enough men. The last we heard about the Andre the Giant men’s Battle Royal was a few weeks ago, and at the time it was probably going to take place on the 4/1 Smackdown show in Dallas, although there had been a possibility of it being on the 3/28 Raw in Pittsburgh.”

As Dave says, there are dozens of male WWE stars currently not booked for WrestleMania, so it would be easy enough to put together, but we’ll have to see whether WWE actually wants to do it this year, or whether it will be announced very last minute.
