Major WWE Star Considered Retirement At WrestleMania 39

Major WWE Star Considered Retirement At WrestleMania 39 WWE

There have reportedly been discussions about a major star potentially retiring after their match at WrestleMania 39.

Ahead of this year’s event, Rey Mysterio will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, as part of the class of 2023.

Things aren’t all positive for Rey, who is currently feuding with his son Dominik Mysterio.

Per WrestleVotes via GiveMeSport, there have been discussions about Rey Mysterio potentially retiring after WrestleMania.

Indicating that next weekend won’t be Rey Mysterio’s final in-ring outing, WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport:

At one point, it was discussed that Rey Mysterio was going to retire at WrestleMania. But I don’t think next weekend is his last match, regardless of the Hall of Fame.

This storyline kind of reinvigorated him a little bit. So I don’t know if he agreed to do another full year, let’s say and retire at 40.

I don’t know if he’s going to drag this out with Dom until they feel like it’s complete.

While it is believed that WWE will announce a Rey vs Dominik match for WrestleMania, the bout hasn’t been officially announced as of writing.

It has been teased that an angle involving the father and son will take place at the Hall of Fame ceremony, which you can read more about right here.

More details on the nights that some WrestleMania 39 matches are scheduled for, including Rey vs Dominik, have now been revealed.
