Rhea Ripley has reacted to the social media exchange between AEW CEO Tony Khan and WWE star Jinder Mahal that developed on Tuesday, January 9.
While Khan is quite infamous for his Twitter activity, very few expected to see the Modern Day Maharaja’s name to come out of the AEW President’s mouth.
Yet, it did, as in a tweet in response to some online criticism regarding HOOK’s challenge of Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship, Khan compared the situation to WWE handing Mahal a World Title match on next week’s Raw (January 15); a situation he feels was less scrutinised despite Mahal not winning a match in a year on TV.
Khan’s original tweet read:
A double standard:
@730hook 28-1 career record, on winning streak calls out the Champ, a logical challenge sparks online outrage Jinder has literally lost every single match he’s in for the past year, immediately gets title shot, where is the rage
#AEWDynamite TOMORROW on TBS
This led to a now deleted response from Mahal, as well as support from WWE SmackDown commentator Corey Graves who wrote “Jinder Rules” in support of the former WWE and United States Champion.
A tweet that was interestingly liked by WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley; with The Eradicator also liking another tweet that referenced to the outpouring of support for Mahal on social media after Khan’s post; something epitomised by ‘Don’t Hinder Jinder’ trending on Twitter.
As well as Ripley and Graves another WWE star would post their own response to Khan’s tweet, albeit in a much more fiery manner.
