Road Dogg Recalls CM Punk Being Difficult To Work With WWE

‘Road Dogg’ Brian James has shared his honest thoughts on CM Punk following recent AEW backstage heat rumors.

Following CM Punk calling out Hangman Page on the August 17 edition of Dynamite, reports revealed that the call-out was completely ‘off script’, with there being legitimate backstage heat between Punk and Page following their Double or Nothing feud.

On an episode of the Oh…You Didn’t Know podcast, Brian James took a ‘jab’ at Punk for his backstage antics, noting:

“So, fast forward to 2022, and apparently, he’s still going into somebody else’s office talking about going home! Look, I don’t know if it’s a pattern with you or not, but it sure seems like it’s forming one to me. Look, let’s continue. I just wanted to throw a jab. I just wanted to throw a jab at Punk.”

CM Punk notably worked with the New Age Outlaws during his final few weeks with WWE in January 2014. Claiming that Punk was difficult to work with professionally during this time, Punk said:

“Look, I just remember he was kind of difficult to work with. And I didn’t know what was going on behind the scenes. I hadn’t been there that long, and I wasn’t in the inner circle. If this had happened three years later, I would have probably known a lot more of what was going on behind the scenes. So, I didn’t really know what was going on with him, but I know he was hard to deal with.

“Maybe that, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that that’s why it was. It wasn’t personal issues, but there were professional issues. Compared to how I and his relationship, he wouldn’t have talked to me about it. So, and it was just, me and Billy just kind of looked at each other, like, Woah, what do we do here? So, we did the best we could to do our stuff around him and let him be him, and we’ll be us, and you know how that worked out.”

On the August 25 edition of Dynamite, Jon Moxley defeated CM Punk in a matter of minutes to become the undisputed AEW World Champion. Plans for the main event of All Out on September 4 have been revealed, following the squash.

Brian James recently returned to WWE as a Senior Vice President of Live Events, following Jeff Jarrett’s departure.
