Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has now reacted to his daughter Ava Raine’s WWE debut on the NXT live event loop.
On last Friday’s (July 10) NXT house show in Ava Raine (Simone Johnson) emerged from the back to walk around the ring during a bout, teasing her in-ring debut.
The next night, Raine cut a promo, referring to herself as the ‘Final Girl’ of NXT.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, The Rock praised the fourth generation star for making her own path.
Noting that he’s watching and supporting her, he said:
“She’s made history, very very proud of her. She is fiercely independent, it’s very important for her to make her own way, blaze her own trail, blaze her own path. She doesn’t come to me looking for a lot, which I respect. I’m here watching and supporting,” he said.
Raine has yet to wrestle or debut her new character on WWE TV.
When The Rock was asked whether he’d be open to returning to the ring himself, he noted:
“Of course, yeah, always open to that. For sure.”
It has previously been speculated that the Hollywood star will make a wrestling return at WrestleMania 38 next April, which will emanate from California’s SoFi Stadium.
Bar his six-second victory over Erick Rowan (Redbeard) at WrestleMania 32, The Rock’s last full match took place at WrestleMania 29 in 2014, with The Great One losing his WWE Title to John Cena in the main event of the show.
