IMPACT’s Sami Callihan calls out Chris Jericho

IMPACT’s Sami Callihan calls out Chris Jericho

At one point in time, IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho said he wouldn’t work for any promotion in North America other than WWE. He went against that statement though as he appeared at the ALL IN event in Chicago earlier this month.

If North America is not out of play anymore, then there are more than a few people who want a shot at the ‘Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla’, including one Sami Callihan.

In an interview with the The Mirror at Wrestling MediaCon, IMPACT Wrestling’s Sami Callihan laid down a challenge to ‘Y2J’ saying:

“Jericho if you’re listening to this, I’m calling your a** out. Whenever you’re ready to do it, let’s f****** do this. Sami Callihan versus Jericho, one on one. I know I wanna see it, I know the people wanna see it, and I know you wanna see it.”

Jericho is preparing for his Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea which will feature talent from Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling, so it is possible something could be set up between them.

This is likely just a work, but Jericho said he wouldn’t rule out working for IMPACT Wrestling on Twitter. He is also a good friend of IMPACT’s Executive Vice President Don Callis, so he could also play a role in bringing Jericho in.

If the match were to happen, Callihan would be all for it. He says Jericho had quite the influence on him in the early stages of his career.

“He’s one of the guys that I truly tried to base myself on when I was younger, but I’ve become a whole new animal now. He’s one of the last dream matches that I actually have as a professional wrestler.”

IMPACT at Wrestling MediaCon airs in full on Fight Network UK (Sky Channel 455) at 9pm on Thursday September 13.
