Huge AEW Title Change Was A ‘Late Decision’ AEW

New details have been learned regarding a recent AEW title change, revealing that the decision to crown a new champion was made not long before the match took place.

One of the most memorable moments of AEW All In London on August 27 was Saraya capturing the AEW Women’s World Championship in front of her family and home country.

While many would expect a decision such as this to be long planned out, according to Fightful Select quite the opposite was true.

According to those familiar with the situation, the decision to have Saraya walk out of Wembley Stadium as the new AEW Women’s Champion was “a late one”.

While the report notes that Tony Khan may have made the decision further in advance, he did not inform Saraya until a day prior to All In at the earliest.

Since becoming champion at All In Saraya has defended her title once, defeating former Outcasts teammate Toni Storm at AEW Grand Slam on September 20.

While Saraya is not advertised to defend her AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW WrestleDream, another title match within the women’s division is set to take place at on October 1.

TBS Champion Kris Statlander will defend her championship against the House of Black’s Julia Hart, who has been undefeated in singles competition for well over a year.
