Top star and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has provided an update on his in-ring return following his torn MCL injury.
On the January 15 edition of WWE Raw, Seth Rollins defeated Jinder Mahal to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
During the course of the bout, Rollins suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus. These injuries would usually cause some months away from in-ring action, but Seth has vowed to defend his title at WrestleMania 40 this April.
Speaking on Good Morning Football, Seth Rollins was asked whether he thought he will be healed in time for WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. He answered:
“Oh, WrestleMania 40, no problem. We got this bad boy. We got this. I’ll be back way before then, for sure.”
“I tore my MCL, tore my meniscus about three weeks ago now, and it sucks. If you’ve ever had an MCL sprain or any sort of damage to that part of your knee, it’s not comfortable.”
“But doing all the right things, rehabbing. Fortunately, it was just a partial tear and not a full tear. We’re able to avoid surgery for the time being.”
“We’ll see what happens after WrestleMania. We’ll see how long I can ride on these wheels, but rehab’s going great.”
“I feel great, I feel like I recently just kind of turned a corner, as a matter of fact, on this knee. So I’m feeling really good.”
“Definitely will be ready before WrestleMania, and I’m hoping sometime in the next few weeks,”
Elsewhere in the interview, Seth Rollins addressed Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 decision and Roman Reigns, which you can read here.
Rhodes still has to decide whether he will face Rollins or Reigns after winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
WWE is set to hold a WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference on Thursday, February 8 from Las Vegas. Rollins, Rhodes, Reigns and The Rock will all be in attendance for the event.
