A major update has emerged on the injury status of Seth Rollins after the big angle that closed WWE Raw yesterday.

The end of Raw saw Rollins get speared by Bron Breakker, with Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman choosing to side with Breakker over Rollins.

This came just two days after Rollins had beaten Cody Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship.

After the ending to Raw, it emerged that there was a belief Rollins had suffered an injury during his match against Rhodes, specifically a shoulder injury after landing badly while attempting a coast-to-coast diving headbutt.

However, some fans, and even people in WWE, had been skeptical about the legitimacy of the injury considering it’s soon after Rollins faked an injury ahead of his Money in the Bank cash-in at SummerSlam.

In a new update from the Wrestling Observer, it has emerged that Rollins’ injury is in fact legitimate this time around.

The current expectation is that he will undergo shoulder surgery “as soon as possible”.

The exact damage to his shoulder and the length of time he’ll be out is currently unknown, but it will be at least several months if he does undergo surgery.

WWE now has to make a decision on what to do with Rollins’ World Heavyweoght Championship, as he was planned to defend it against CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1.

Punk won a #1 contender’s match on Raw just before the Breakker turn, so he’s owed a title match and will have to be involved in the new equation somehow.

Rollins was also planned to lead a team in WarGames at WWE Survivor Series on November 29, which was set to feature Breakker, Reed, Austin Theory and Brock Lesnar.

Their opponents at that point were planned to be Punk, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jacob Fatu, and either LA Knight or Jimmy Uso.

It also came out earlier today that Rollins vs Reigns had been “tentatively” planned for WrestleMania 42.

We’ll continue to keep you posted with any updates.
